Description
Overnight close to 30 inches of snow fell along the Jersey shore, but the birds were out in force. Against a snowy background, this Cedar Waxwing eagerly fed on berries on a very cold morning. Cedar Waxwings are one of the only species that exclusively eat fruit, occasionally to the point of intoxication from alcohol producing fermented berries. This is my first post from the Canon 7D.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactThe white sky in the background (or snow) creates a brilliant contrast with the dusky peach and dusty yellow plumage of the bird against the brown twigs and red berries. Makes the black and white banner round its eyes stand out even more. The focus and clarity in this picture is fantastic bringing real life and highlight to the colours. Possibly could do with a bit more green or other features instead of just brown twigs and berries but for simplicity and colour this picture says it all. A very well captured photograph. Very pretty and eye catching. Nice one.
