One of the more skilled hunters in the bird world, the Snowy Egret either stands completely still and awaits prey, or runs along through muddy creeks and ponds, in an attempt to stir up any edible bottom feeders. Snowy Egrets breed in large colonies, often on offshore islands. This individual was stalking prey in a saltmarsh during a drizzly morning.
