Ocean Desert by Ryser915 Ocean Desert by Ryser915
Before heading to Gateway National Park to shoot birds, I stopped at an ocean facing beach to take advantage of the predawn light. This was a pretty long exposure about thirty minutes before the sun rose, when light was a faint glow on the horizon. The predawn light and length of the exposure did some crazy things.

This is a fantastic shot using long exposure. Great focal points and the color, whew, that's all I can get out right now. Did you use a neutral density filter to lengthen the shutter speed?

No ND here, it was before the sun went up, so it was dark enough to do without a filter.

Thanks!

It must take a lot of experimentation to get it exposed correctly.

I love the crazy things all those elements did. Very interesting shot - I like the way the mist fills in the gaps in the rocks, sort of like a witches brew or something else from a fairy tale.
