Description
Secretive but common, the Hermit Thrush is seen in every U.S. state except Hawaii. They mostly feed on the ground and depending on the season, eat insects or fruit. For some reason, east of the Rocky Mountains these birds usually nest on the ground, and west of the Rockies it's more common for them to nest in trees. No one is really sure why. They're song is in my opinion, one of the best of any North American bird.
