Black-and-white Warbler by Ryser915 Black-and-white Warbler by Ryser915
The Black-and-white Warbler is in my opinion one of the most striking warbler species in North America. They creep along the trunks of trees like nuthatches, feeding on insects. Unusually aggressive for a warbler, they will ferociously attack other birds that enter their territory. Some of these birds will stay and breed in Massachusetts, but not this particular bird. This male was part of a major coastal fallout of migrants on this particular day.

I saw several of these little guys during a hike at Hawk Mountain a few weeks ago. They are so agile! And their wee-wee-wee warbles are so loud. I'm impressed that you found it standing still long enough for such a clear photo. :D

This is my absolute favorite of all the warblers! And what a fantastic capture this is of such a delightful bird. Wish I could hear the "squeaky wheel" right now!
