Belted kingfishers can drive a photographer insane. Not only are they skittish, but they love to sit just out of range and laugh at you. If approached from any direction, they take off and land once again, just out of range. I gave up on this female, and waited by a perch she was on earlier. She finally landed on it again, and was very cooperative. She sat overlooking the protected waters of Horseshoe Cove on the bay side of Sandy Hook for fifteen minutes before heading off to fish.

The branch it is sitting on really adds to the wild look and you subject is already so beautiful. They both just really work together. Great shot dude.
