One of the best looking birds in the east, the Baltimore Oriole is a common breeder in Massachusetts in appropriate habitat. Although they prefer willows, I've seen them nesting in most types of deciduous trees. They weave intricate hanging nests that resemble little baskets, that are in my opinion, one of the more impressive nests of any species. Most often high up in the canopy, this male was on its way down to bath in a puddle.

Lovely bird - I think this may be a first, I would have preferred a stronger contrast background for it's head, but as a bird photographer I know - the perfect backdrop isn't always possible. Nice work!
